English Editing and Proofreading for Life Science and Medical Papers
The latest in a number of appointments we have made to our English editing and proofreading team over the New Year, Dr. Duncan Jackson joins BIOEDIT with a vast range of experience.
Both in terms of his research and his publication record, Dr. Jackson is an exciting addition to our science editors. Studying at the University of Sheffield, he has a PhD in Animal Behaviour and Computational Modelling, as well as an MSc in Bioinformatics. Since then, he has worked as a microbiologist in the water industry before moving into the field of animal behaviour and evolutionary ecology.
Duncan boasts an impressive interdisciplinary record and has publication experience to back it up. His work has been published in over 50 peer-reviewed journals, including Nature and Current Biology, and he currently acts as a peer-reviewer for over 20 high-impact journals.
Dr. Jackson will provide English editing and proofreading for a wide range of fields, while maintaining to the high-standards expected of BIOEDIT's comprehensive service.

Avoid beginning a sentence with an antecedent (e.g., “Its”) or a demonstrative pronoun (e.g., “this”).
When a number is used to describe a single measurement, a singular verb is used (10 ml was added). However, if the subject is considered in separate parts, a plural verb is required (10 ml drops were added one by one).
The definite and indefinite articles should be used in formal writing; however, they may be partially excluded in headings, titles, figures, and lists.
Avoid pleonasms: for example, are found to be in agreement-agree, give consideration to-consider, in order to-to.
When a sentence begins with a number, the number must be written in full.
Avoid using a split infinitive unless the sentence requires it to avoid awkwardness or confusion.
Do not use the possessive apostrophe in acronyms (Incorrect: DNA’s).
Do not begin sentences with “and”.
