English Editing and Proofreading for Life Science and Medical Papers
Everyone at BIOEDIT would like wish all of our clients, colleagues and friends a very Happy New Year and best wishes for 2011.
Last year marked an exciting and successful time for BIOEDIT as we expanded our English editing and proofreading service, and we aim to make this coming 12 months even more fruitful as we strive to offer the best in professional scientific editing.
In 2010, we had the pleasure of meeting and working with many researchers and scientists worldwide - some of them familiar, regular subscribers to our service, while others discovering the benefits of having their work professionally edited for the first time. Our network of publishers has also spread as we aim to work closer with the journals that you, the researcher, hope to be published in. It is with this close understanding of the peer-review process that we edit your papers and manuscripts, giving you the best possible chance of publication.
The BIOEDIT team expanded as we recruited new science editors in new, relevant fields. Unlike other English editing services, our premium comprehensive editing service is only carried out by PhD-qualified scientists with previous experience in science editing and publishing. As always, our speciality remains in the life sciences and medicine; however, now we offer editing in greater depth, and in a wider range of fields than ever before.
Last summer, we relaunched the BIOEDIT website and its local pages in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Spain, Italy and Poland, with the hope of providing the busy researcher with a faster, easier and more efficient service. This has since encouraged many more scientific institutions and authors to submit their work for editing with us.
In 2011, we will continue to strive to offer scientific editing that is professional, thorough, author- and subject-specific, concise and value-for-money. BIOEDIT's aim is to ensure that the best research papers out there are not overlooked due to English language difficulties. Submit your manuscript today, and see how we can improve your chances of publication.
This month, Bioedit moved into its new Manchester offices...
Avoid beginning a sentence with an antecedent (e.g., “Its”) or a demonstrative pronoun (e.g., “this”).
When a number is used to describe a single measurement, a singular verb is used (10 ml was added). However, if the subject is considered in separate parts, a plural verb is required (10 ml drops were added one by one).
The definite and indefinite articles should be used in formal writing; however, they may be partially excluded in headings, titles, figures, and lists.
Avoid pleonasms: for example, are found to be in agreement-agree, give consideration to-consider, in order to-to.
When a sentence begins with a number, the number must be written in full.
Avoid using a split infinitive unless the sentence requires it to avoid awkwardness or confusion.
Do not use the possessive apostrophe in acronyms (Incorrect: DNA’s).
Do not begin sentences with “and”.
