Dr. Duncan Jackson

 

Dr. Duncan Jackson has a First Class degree in Biology, an MSc with distinction in Bioinformatics, and a PhD in Animal Behaviour and Computational Modelling from the University of Sheffield, UK. Dr. Jackson worked as a microbiologist in the water industry for eight years before moving into the field of animal behaviour and evolutionary ecology.

 

Dr. Jackson's research interests have focused on the evolution of communication, particularly in social insects, working with a diversity of techniques, including, chemistry, genetics, molecular biology, population ecology, behavioural study, computational modelling, microbiology and many other areas of technical expertise.

  

His career track record has included time as a research fellow with a strong inter-disciplinary publication record, which is distinguished by clear communication of research findings in the broadest scientific context, and a rigorous attention to detail. Duncan's research has been widely covered in the media, including, Discovery News, BBC, Times of London, New Scientist, and National Geographic. He is currently a reviewer for over 20 high impact journals and the holder of grants funded by UK Research Councils.

 

Dr. Jackson has been published in over 50 peer-reviewed journals, including, Nature, Current Biology, Behavioral Ecology and Animal Behaviour, in the majority of cases as a first author. In addition, he has had numerous articles published in the trade press and popular media.
