Dr. Sally Meiners

 

Sally Meiners, Ph.D., brings many years of expertise in life sciences and biomedical education, research, and communications. She obtained her B.S. and Ph.D. from the Department of Biochemistry at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. She then conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (UMDNJ-RWJMS) in Piscataway, New Jersey, USA.

 

Dr. Meiners later became an Assistant Professor in the aforementioned department, where she headed an independent research laboratory from 2001-2010. The emphasis of her research was Neurobiology, Spinal Cord Injury, and Biomaterials. Her love of research and writing has translated into an extensive list of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

 

Dr. Meiners also feels strongly about giving back to the community and helping to educate the next generation. She has taught a number of special topics in Pharmacology at the medical and graduate school levels and has additionally mentored a diverse group of postdoctoral, graduate, undergraduate, and high school students in life sciences and biomedical research, ethics, and writing.

 

Dr. Meiners now works as an independent life sciences and biomedical writer/editor/consultant and continues to mentor students as a volunteer faculty member in the Pharmacology Department at UMDNJ-RWJMS.
