Dr. Melanie L McEwen

 

Dr. Melanie L. McEwen received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Florida in 2000 where she specialised in Behavioural Neuroscience — the study of behaviour as it relates to nervous system function. She completed her postdoctoral studies in Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky and is currently a Research Assistant Professor at that institution.

 

Dr. McEwen’s areas of expertise include sensory and motor development, nervous system dysfunction due to trauma or disease (especially spinal cord injury), mechanisms of cell death and survival, and behavioral assessments. She has several years’ experience preparing abstracts, slideshows, and posters for scientific meetings; writing original research manuscripts for journal publication, and developing polished grant applications.

 

She has published her research findings in a variety of scientific journals and has served as an ad hoc reviewer of manuscripts submitted for publication.
