Dr Erin Gerecke - Genetics/Cell Biology/Molecular Biology
Dr Erin Gerecke earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Carleton College and a Ph.D. in genetics from Indiana University. Her graduate work focused on understanding genes involved in meiosis and DNA repair pathways in the fungus Coprinus cinereus. Specifically, she identified and characterized the activity of a homolog of the MRE11 gene in this model system. Recently, Dr. Gerecke has used RNAi to investigate the properties of various meiotic genes. Dr Gerecke has broad interests in many areas of genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, and biotechnology. She has worked as an undergraduate biology professor and a scientific writer and editor for the past several years.
