Dr Christine Schmael - Psychiatry/Medicine/Molecular Genetics
Dr Christine Schmael is a British psychiatrist who qualified in medicine in 1992 at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, UK. She is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and has a Masters Degree in Psychiatry. After having worked as a consultant psychiatrist and clinical lecturer in Psychological Medicine in the UK until 2004, she is now engaged in research into the phenotype-genotype relationships and molecular genetics of neuropsychiatric disorders, and additionally acts as an ethics advisor for a European Union-funded international multi-centre study. She has been first author or co-author of more than 20 peer-reviewed papers, and is co-author of a postgraduate text book chapter on the genetics of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. She has extensive experience of editing texts in the English language, such as manuscripts (with subsequent publication in all leading journals including Archives of General Psychiatry and Nature Genetics), text book chapters, grant proposals, and all other documentation relevant to the work of academic and research departments. Her second language is German.
