Dr Corina Marx - Plant Biology/Ubiquitination/Oncology/Cell Biology

Corina obtained her B.S in Plant Biology from the University of California at Berkeley and her PhD from UC Berkeley in Agricultural Chemistry in the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology. Her PhD work focused on studying the role of proteases in the regulation of seed dormancy in Barley. She then did a short postdoctoral fellowship in microbiology before settling into biomedical research in oncology at a private non-profit institute, the Buck Institute for Age Research. She worked for six years at the Buck Institute’s molecular cancer therapeutics department, first as a postdoctoral fellow and later as a staff scientist, studying the receptor tyrosine kinase ErbB2 and its activation, trafficking and processing by ubiquitination. She has recently developed an interest in scientific editing and writing, and has joined the Northern California Science Writers Association. Corina is a contributing writer for the Buck Institute’s website.
